Gina Miles selected for Pan Am Games in Brazil E-mail

Gina Miles of Creston, CA will represent the United States at the 2007 Pan American Games, July 13-29, 2007 to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  Gina was named by the Executive  Committee of the USEF with five other horse and rider combinations including former Australian rider Phillip Dutton who will ride for the USA for the first time. McKinlaigh will be Gina's ride a 13 year old Irish Sport Horse continuing a partnership of many years.

Gina Miles began riding at the age of 7 in Davis CA, Owning her first pony three years later allowed Gina to ride more frequently and begin competing in local schooling shows. A visit to the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles confirmed to Gina’s that Three-Day eventing was the direction that her riding would take.

With her ride McKinlaigh the pair had a very successful 2006. Wins at the Rebecca Farm CIC World Cup qualifier, Woodside HT, Twin Rivers HT and the USEF Fall Championship at Fair Hill International CCI*** earned McKinlaigh the title of USEA Advanced Horse of the Year.

Before the First Horse Inspection, four of these combinations will be named to the team and the other two will represent the USA as individuals.

The horses and riders will train at Stonehall Farm in The Plains, VA beginning June 24 and enter quarantine in Ocala, FL on July 1. The six horses that will ship to Brazil will leave from Miami, Florida on July 11.
